La Vie En Rose: Dialogue Project

And Now the cherry on top, making pictures look like their talking. Trying to synchronize dialogue can be difficult but it can be even more difficult to convey singing when the words are even more pronounced. The character in this attempts a very classy rendition of La Vie En Rose.

The Milkman Cometh: Walk Cylce Project

Another very overlooked aspect of animating, the walk cycle. This simple exercise can help demonstrate weight but also gives a character a lot of personality. The character I conceived I wanted to do in a "ligne claire" style similar to a Tin Tin or Archie comic. The character of "The Milkman" is seen here on his daily route in his typical jolly mood.

Douglass Bat Swing: Weight Project

Weight is the ultimate illusion of animation, it plays a key role in grounding the characters in reality because they occasionally obey the laws of physics. Weight can be conveyed in alot of actions but this scene in particular displays it with our young character picking up a baseball bat and swinging it.

Jokes On U: Head Turn Excercise

A deceivingly simple action that can have uncanny results, a head turn can have a wide range of connotations. The challenge for this exercise is not only keeping the character on model but also keeping the head in proper proportion with all the features in tact. I like a menacing head turn and with this I added the extra challenge of having to redraw face paint for my character. The design is an animated version of the Joaquin Phoenix Joker who receives a not so humorous hair cut.

Sackslosion: Pantomime Assignment

In order to demonstrate body acting, it's best to use a sack of flour as a character and get rid of all the distracting bits of character design like the head or opposable thumbs. This scene shows a flour sack with a little too enthusiastic reaction to seeing an old friend, that ends in devastating results.

Rat Feast: Overlapping Action Excercise

This second project demonstrates the concept of overlapping action! This scene depicts two rather large rats looking to get their greedy hands on a hunk of cheese.
